Pizza Roll ups

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 pizza dough
    (store-bought or homemade, about 250–300 g)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce or marinara

Cheese

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • Optional: ¼ cup grated Parmesan

Fillings (choose any)

  • Pepperoni slices
  • Cooked sausage
  • Ham
  • Cooked mushrooms
  • Bell peppers, finely chopped
  • Olives

Finishing

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  1. Lightly flour a clean surface.
  2. Roll the pizza dough into a rectangle about ½ cm thick.

A rectangular shape makes rolling easier and more even.


Step 2: Add Sauce

  1. Spread a thin, even layer of pizza sauce over the dough.
  2. Leave a 2 cm border along one long edge.

Too much sauce will cause leaking during baking.


Step 3: Add Cheese and Fillings

  1. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the sauce.
  2. Add toppings in a single, even layer.
  3. Sprinkle Parmesan if using.

Avoid overfilling, which can prevent proper sealing.


Step 4: Roll and Seal

  1. Starting from the long edge opposite the bare border, roll the dough tightly.
  2. Press the seam gently to seal.
  3. Place seam-side down.

A tight roll helps keep the cheese inside.


Step 5: Slice

  1. Cut the roll into equal pieces, about 3 to 4 cm thick.
  2. Use a sharp knife and clean between cuts if needed.

Cooking Methods

Oven Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  3. Arrange roll-ups cut-side up, leaving space between them.
  4. Brush tops lightly with olive oil or melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano.
  6. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden and bubbling.

Air Fryer Method

  1. Preheat air fryer to 180°C (356°F).
  2. Line basket with parchment paper.
  3. Place roll-ups in a single layer.
  4. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Turn halfway through for even browning.

Resting

Let pizza roll-ups rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving. This helps the cheese settle and prevents burns.
