Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts (or 4 small breasts) or 4 chicken thighs, boneless & skinless
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (smoked or sweet)
  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon chili powder or cayenne for mild heat
  • Optional for extra flavor: 1 teaspoon lemon juice or ½ teaspoon dried herbs (thyme, rosemary, or oregano)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Chicken

  1. Pat chicken dry with paper towels. This helps the seasoning stick and promotes browning.

  3. Brush or rub the chicken with 1 tablespoon olive oil.

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.

Step 4: Cook Chicken

  1. Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding.
  2. Cook at 375°F (190°C):
    • Chicken breasts: 18–20 minutes
    • Chicken thighs: 20–22 minutes
  3. Flip the chicken halfway through cooking (around 9–10 minutes for breasts).

Step 5: Check for Doneness

  • Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part:
    • Chicken breasts: 165°F (74°C)
    • Chicken thighs: 175°F (79°C) for maximum tenderness
  • If not done, cook 2–3 more minutes and check again.

Step 6: Rest

  • Remove chicken and let it rest 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Resting keeps juices locked in—this is key to “melt-in-your-mouth” texture.

Step 7: Serve

  • Slice and serve with your favorite sides:
