Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

Main Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    (about 1.5 pounds total)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
(full-fat gives the best texture, but light works too)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
(freshly grated is best, but pre-grated works)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
    (adjust to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Optional Flavor Boosters

  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice (adds brightness)

Equipment Needed

  • Air fryer
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Meat thermometer (recommended but optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  1. Place the chicken breasts on a cutting board.
  2. If they are very thick, slice them horizontally to create thinner cutlets.
This helps them cook evenly and stay tender.
  3. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
Dry chicken helps the topping stick better.

Set the chicken aside.

Step 2: Make the Creamy Topping

In a mixing bowl, combine:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Mix thoroughly until smooth and evenly combined.

The mixture should be thick but spreadable.

Step 3: Coat the Chicken

  1. Lay the chicken pieces flat.
  2. Spoon the mixture generously on top of each piece.
  3. Spread it evenly from edge to edge.
  4. The coating should fully cover the top but does not need to go underneath.

Do not flip the chicken after coating.

Step 4: Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 to 5 minutes.

Preheating helps the chicken start cooking immediately and evenly.

Step 5: Air Fry the Chicken

  1. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  2. Do not overcrowd. Cook in batches if needed.
  3. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 14 to 18 minutes, depending on thickness.

There is no need to flip the chicken.

Step 6: Check for Doneness

The chicken is done when:

  • The internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C)
  • The topping is lightly golden
  • The chicken feels firm but not hard

If needed, cook for an additional 1–2 minutes.

Step 7: Rest Before Serving

Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes.

This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the chicken moist
