Ingredients (For 2 Servings)
- 1 medium cauliflower
- 1 to 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional seasonings (add only after mastering the basic recipe):
- Black pepper
- Paprika
- Garlic powder
- Chili powder
- Mixed herbs
Equipment Needed
- Air fryer
- Cutting board
- Knife
- Large bowl
- Spoon or hands for mixing
Step 1: Preparing the Cauliflower
Wash the cauliflower thoroughly under clean water.
Remove the outer green leaves and cut off the thick stem at the bottom.
Cut the cauliflower into medium-sized florets.
Try to keep the florets similar in size so they cook evenly.
Dry the florets using a clean towel or paper towel.
Dry cauliflower crisps better than wet cauliflower.
Step 2: Seasoning the Cauliflower
Place the dry cauliflower florets into a large bowl.
Add oil to the bowl.
Sprinkle salt over the cauliflower.
If using other seasonings, add them now.
Mix everything gently until all florets are evenly coated.
Do not add too much oil. A light coating is enough.
Step 3: Preheating the Air Fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (360°F) for 3 to 5 minutes.
Preheating helps the cauliflower start cooking immediately and improves texture.
Step 4: Placing Cauliflower in the Air Fryer
Place the seasoned cauliflower florets into the air fryer basket.
Spread them in a single layer.
Do not overcrowd the basket.
If needed, cook in batches.
Overcrowding causes steaming instead of crisping.
Step 5: Cooking the Cauliflower
Set the air fryer to 180°C (360°F).
Cook for 12 minutes.
After 6 minutes, open the basket and shake or turn the florets.
This helps them brown evenly on all sides.
Close the basket and continue cooking.
Step 6: Checking Doneness
After 12 minutes, check the cauliflower.
It should be:
- Lightly golden on the outside
- Soft inside when pierced with a fork
If you want it crispier:
- Cook for an additional 3 to 5 minutes
Avoid cooking too long, as it can become dry.
Step 7: Final Taste Adjustment
Remove the cauliflower from the air fryer.
Taste one piece.
Add a pinch of salt if needed.
Optional:
- Sprinkle lemon juice
- Add grated cheese
- Add herbs after cooking
